SALT LAKE CITY – Firefighters are asking people to reach out to local relief organizations to donate after two single-family units caught fire in Tooele Thursday night.
At approximately 8:52 p.m., the Tooele City Fire Department said in a Facebook post that firefighters were called to a structure fire.
“Upon arrival from our first arriving units it was determined that two single family dwellings both had heavy smoke and flames,” the department said.
The North Tooele Fire Department reportedly worked alongside the Tooele City Fire Department to battle flames and get the fire under control.
Firefighters said the cause of the fire was still under investigation at the time of publication.
Where to donate relief materials
In the Facebook post, firefighters said the fire department does not accept or distribute donated items.
“We appreciate your generosity and are incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support and the willingness of so many in our community to help during times of crisis,” the department said. “Your kindness does not go unnoticed.”
If you are looking to donate to those who were impacted by the fire, firefighters recommend you reach out to the Red Cross and other local relief organizations to ensure donations make it to those in need.
“Thank you for being a compassionate and supportive community,” the department said.
