SALT LAKE CITY – Two people were killed on a motorcycle after a box truck crossed into oncoming traffic on State Route 50 in Millard County Monday, according to the Department of Public Safety.
At approximately 5:54 p.m., a Ford F250 box truck was reportedly traveling on eastbound lanes of the highway when it crossed over onto westbound lanes.
The box truck hit a motorcycle head-on, DPS said, killing a 69-year-old man who was driving and a 70-year-old woman who was the passenger on impact.
DPS said the male driver of the box truck was taken to a hospital for evaluation, though his condition was not immediately available.
“Speed and drowsy driving are suspected factors in the crash,” DPS said.
One lane of the highway was reportedly closed for approximately five hours, following the crash, DPS said.
The crash is still under investigation, and no further information was immediately available.
