UDOT warns of significant delays for drivers on Memorial Day

SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Transportation is warning drivers there could be up to 90-minute traffic delays on U.S. Highway 6 in Spanish Fork Canyon over Memorial Day weekend.

At the same time, UDOT Public Relations Director, John Gleason said in a press release that most of the construction projects across Utah will be suspended to help reduce delays.

Drivers traveling on Friday, May 22 can expect delays on:

  • Southbound Interstate 15 from Spanish Fork to Nephi,
  • Eastbound U.S. 6 from Spanish Fork to Soldier Summit,
  • Northbound U.S. 89 from Logan to Bear Lake,
  • Eastbound U.S. 40 from Heber to Duchesne, and
  • Southbound U.S. 6/U.S. 191 from Spanish Fork to Moab.

Drivers returning on Friday, May 29 can expect delays on:

  • Westbound U.S. 6 from Soldier Summit to Spanish Fork,
  • Northbound I-15 from Nephi to Spanish Fork,
  • Southbound U.S. 89 from Bear Lake to Logan,
  • Westbound U.S. 40 from Duchesne to Heber, and
  • Northbound U.S. 191/U.S. 6 from Moab to Spanish Fork.

Following the holiday weekend, the Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities will begin a project on U.S. 89 (Beck Street). And on Tuesday, southbound Beck Street between Everett Avenue and Victory Road will be reduced to one lane for approximately ten days.
