Utah man charged with making threats against Congress

KAYSVILLE — Police and prosecutors say a Utah man threatened to kill members of Congress and called the U.S. Capitol more than 2,000 times over the last 13 months.
Court documents say Scott Brian Haven claimed to be frustrated with Democrats and liberals mistreating the president and talked about shooting, hanging and decapitating certain senators and representatives.
FBI agents say he told them they were “just meaningless threats that were made out of frustration.”
Haven was arrested this week in Kaysville. He appeared Wednesday before a federal judge. If convicted, Haven faces federal charges that could mean up to five years in prison if he is convicted plus a fine of $250,000.
The charging documents do not name the members of Congress Haven is accused of threatening, but they say he called them multiple times with death threats.
