WASHINGTON, D.C. — Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, believes Pam Bondi, President-elect Donald Trump’s choice to become the next attorney general, will be confirmed to take the job.
Lee questioned Bondi, the former attorney general of Florida, during her confirmation hearing Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee. Lee serves as a member of the majority on that committee.

During the hearing, Lee asked Bondi how she would prevent what he called “the weaponization of the Department of Justice against Americans.”
“Going after parents at a school board meeting has got to stop. For practicing your religion, sending informants into Catholic churches must stop,” Bondi responded.
Lee told KSL NewsRadio’s Inside Sources he also had a chance to talk with Bondi before the hearing. He said they discussed topics of interest to him, such as criminal justice reform.
“… including things that will just help make the federal system work better and give our prisoners access to more of the treatment that they need. More of the tools they need to avoid recidivism once they’re released from prison,” Lee said.
If confirmed, as attorney general, Bondi would oversee the federal prison system.
Overall, Lee said Bondi performed well under questioning on Wednesday. “Yeah,” he added. “She’s going to be confirmed.”
