WASHINGTON, D.C. — A new Supreme Court justice has been sworn-in… and just in time for the beginning of the high court’s term. This follows a contentious confirmation process for Justice Brett Kavanaugh, with key roles played by both of Utah’s U.S. senators.

Sen. Orrin Hatch and Sen, Mike Lee, both Republicans, are on the Senate Judiciary Committee. Hatch’s office says he was right in the thick of things during his 15th and final Supreme Court confirmation process. He has written many opinion editorial pieces and spoken out on the Senate floor and in committee hearings about his point of view. His office shared a video on Twitter of Senator Hatch shaking Kavanaugh’s hand this weekend.

Meanwhile, Sen. Mike Lee worked more behind the scenes, and a new report out this weekend talks about just how many times Lee called or was beside his colleague, Sen. Jeff Flake, R-Arizona, during the past two weeks or so. They say he was with him reading the FBI’s confidential report detailing its expanded background check of now-Justice Brett Kavanaugh as well.
