SALT LAKE CITY — A man was booked into the Weber County Jail on Wednesday on suspicion of aggravated murder, police documents said. One of the three people injured in Sunday’s shooting in Weber County has reportedly died.
A probable cause statement said 18-year-old Michael Robles Gaisbauer was interviewed by police and admitted to being at the scene of the shooting. The statement also said he admitted to “firing a weapon eight times towards a crowd.”
“An individual was struck and killed during this incident,” the statement said. “After the shooting, (Gaisbauer) admitted to fleeing the scene and disposing of the firearm.”
Gaisbauer is accused of aggravated murder, obstruction of justice and eight counts of felony discharge of a firearm.
In another probable cause statement, police say Gaisbauer’s girlfriend was also taken into custody. Witness reportedly saw 19-year-old McKinzi Mana Sundquist at the scene of the shooting.
The statement said when she was interviewed as a key witness, she “withheld key information regarding the homicide.” She’s also being held in the Weber County Jail on suspicion of obstruction of justice.
The Weber County Sheriff’s Office confirmed Thursday that 22-year-old Jesus Cuadras Garcia was taken off life support the day before following the shooting. A GoFundMe was created* to help his wife cover hospital and funeral expenses. The page says Cuadras Garcia leaves behind her and two children — a 5-year-old and a 3-month-old.
Cuadras Garcia’s 5-year-old was also shot, and her family posted a GoFundMe page for her medical expenses*. Police documents said she, and the third victim, were in stable condition.
