WEST JORDAN — A man is dead after his house caught fire in West Jordan early Thursday morning, a fire chief said.
Battalion Chief Travis Ball with the West Jordan Fire Department said firefighters were called to the home in the area of Susan Way and 8600 South at approximately 12:50 a.m.
“Our initial units arrived to find heavy, heavy smoke. We didn’t see any flames, just heavy smoke coming from the home,” Ball said.
He said firefighters got inside as quickly as possible and found a man inside. He was treated on scene and then taken to a hospital, but he was pronounced dead.
Ball said the man was the only one home at the time. The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
