Woman arrested for allegedly trespassing at Lagoon, posts police escort on TikTok

SALT LAKE CITY – A woman was arrested Sunday for trespassing at Lagoon Amusement Park after she had been banned for a year, police said.
Jami Hewlett, 48, was reportedly notified Saturday that she was not allowed back at Lagoon for a year, “per the request of Lagoon security,” documents state.
Hewlett recorded the interaction when she was approached by police Saturday, and told she must exit the park immediately. She posted multiple videos to TikTok from the interaction.

At the beginning of a video posted by Hewlett, a police officer is heard saying, “The park has said they want her gone. She was notified of that.”
Hewlett’s video showed her upset about missing her daughter’s dance performance, and she can be heard repeatedly asking, “So, I can’t watch my daughter dance?”
Hewlett is also recorded saying she wanted a refund for the park’s entrance fee as she was being escorted off the property by at least two officers.
An officer seen in the video notified Hewlett that the reason for her removal from the park was due to a “dispute at the entrance of the park,” and that an attempt was made to resolve it. Throughout the video, police mention attempts to talk with Hewlett and her unwillingness to do so.
As seen on Hewlett’s video, she disclosed to officers that two of her children were with another person, whom police said they saw Hewlett “in her face” upon their arrival.
“As of now, if you come back here today, then you will be taken to jail for a Class C misdemeanor trespassing,” a security guard states in the video.
After an argument ensued between Hewlett and police about getting a refund, officers attempted to explain how to get her money back.
At the conclusion of the video, an officer told Hewlett, “New rule, you’re now trespassed from Lagoon for a year.”

According to an affidavit of probable cause, police said Hewlett was notified on Saturday that she was not allowed back at the amusement park for a year.
On Sunday, “her social media accounts showed posts of her photos with her children and admissions that she had entered the park, later in the day,” documents state.
Police said security footage showed Hewlett entered the park Saturday after she was told she was not allowed back.
