Woods Cross residents plan to sue city for sewage flood damage

WOODS CROSS – Angry homeowners plan to flood Tuesday night’s Woods Cross city council meeting, more than a month after raw sewage flooded their homes.
The raw sewage in Taylor Jacobsen’s home was knee-high.
“Pulling out carpet and cutting out drywall – this is 80, 100 or 200 hours’ worth of work,” he said.
A water main break sent it rushing into more than 20 homes on Feb. 27.
Their owners claim Woods Cross is reneging on a promise to pay for repairs. Rhett Cleverly says they’re organizing a lawsuit.
“I just want my house back so I can live in it again,” he said. “All of us are in the same boat. We just want to make sure they take care of us.”
Woods Cross officials say the city’s insurance is still determining what caused the water main break and if it could have been avoided.
The homeowners estimate their damage between $5,000 and $50,000 per home.
