SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Police arrested a couple Friday after they were found traveling from Las Vegas to Salt Lake City to sell THC products at a marijuana-themed event they called “Taco Sesh.” They were arrested for investigation of multiple counts of drug-related charges.

Police say it’s not the first time Justin Rashad Marion, 23, and Medina Selimovic, 22, have hosted a marijuana-themed event like this. They both had warrants out for their arrests in 2019 and 2018 for similar incidents.

The police arrested the couple Friday when Metro Gang Unit detectives the two were traveling from Las Vegas to host an event with a menu largely filled with THC products. These included raw marijuana, THC cartridges, cannabis-infused edibles, and psilocybin mushrooms, according to a police booking affidavit.

When detectives received this information, they secured a search warrant before the party began. Once the police arrived at the scene, several people ran from the house, according to the affidavit. This included Marion, who was seen leaving the house and jumping a fence to escape.

A police K-9 then found him hiding in a trash can.

The police seized “approximately 6 pounds of raw marijuana, 1 pound of psilocybin mushrooms, approximately 150 THC cartridges, 100 grams of THC resin and 100 packages of cannabis infused edibles of various strengths,” the affidavit states.

The couple was charged with drug distribution in November 2019, after the police found a similar operation in Salt Lake County. At that time, Marion told police “he was upset that he was arrested for selling marijuana because he helps people with medical conditions. Marion also said that he will get more product and continue to sell marijuana when he gets out of jail,” according to charging documents.

The couple has been charged on other accounts of drug distribution prior to this event, including a similar marijuana bust in Beaver Mountain Lodge in April 2018.
