The trial for Lori and Chad Daybell — parents of the missing Idaho children who were later found dead — has been postponed to July 7, seven months after its original January date. The couple faces trial on charges alleging they worked together to hide the bodies of their children after their deaths.

The trials were originally scheduled for January, but were postponed after a judge combined the cases in October.

The case has garnered international attention amid rumors about the Daybells’ apocalyptic religious beliefs and the deaths of both their former spouses.

The Daybell trial comes after a months-long search for the two Idaho children, Tylee Ryan and Joshua “JJ” Vallow. That search ended with the discovery of their remains in Chad Daybell’s yard in Salem, Idaho, in June. Chad Daybell also faces two additional counts of destroying or hiding evidence in the case.

Both Daybells have pleaded not guilty

The two are also under investigation in the death of Tammy Daybell, Chad Daybell’s former wife — who died about two weeks before Chad Daybell married Lori Daybell.

It’s unclear how long the trial will last; the judge scheduled a pretrial conference for the Daybells on Jan. 6, 2021.
