SALT LAKE CITY — Today, Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) used Twitter to explain why he voted not to confirm New Mexico Representative Deb Haaland as Interior secretary.
In his tweet, Romney said he was able to discuss issues with Haaland that are important to Utah.
When I met with Rep. Haaland, we discussed several issues of importance to Utah—the recent temporary suspension of federal energy leases, the ongoing review of our national monuments, and concerns regarding the Administration’s intent to assert greater control over public lands. pic.twitter.com/rYty0KPc0J

But, Romney tweeted, the reason he was not able to support her confirmation is that it came down to her record and her support for the Green New Deal.
However, based on Rep. Haaland’s record and views on land management and energy resources, including her support for radical policies like the Green New Deal, I am not able to support her confirmation to lead @Interior. https://t.co/vZ3rngRgKk
