MAPLETON, Utah — The Mapleton Police Department has identified the 13-year-old who died in a collision with a go-kart and an SUV at the intersection of Aspen and Dogwood Drive Thursday afternoon.
Bridger Robison would have started 8th grade at Mapleton Junior High next month. A statement issued by his family says he was “quick to make friends and was blessed to have so many good ones.” The statement went on to thank everyone in the community who had offered their prayers and support.
The case is still under investigation. Mapleton Police Lieutenant Philip Bringhurst told KSL Newsradio the Utah Highway Patrol has been helping out.
“UHP came and assisted, and they did some video with a drone over the whole scene and we’re still trying to piece that together,” he said.
Bringhurst said the woman who was driving the SUV has been cooperating with the investigation.
Bringhurst said officers are frequently in contact with underage drivers taking vehicles out on residential streets.
“A lot of these kids these days, they have these electric vehicles and they’re out on the roads, and we stop kids all the time to talk to them and let them know the dangers,” Bringhurst said.
The family has created a Go Fund Me account, which they say will be used to provide scholarships and educational opportunities for others.
KSL Newsdradio cannot and does not confirm that funds donated to a Go Fund Me account will be used in the manner in which they are represented.
