Shooting in Layton lands man in police custody, accused of multiple crimes

LAYTON, Utah — A 36-year-old man was booked in the Davis County Jail after a shooting in Layton Tuesday night that sent another man to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
According to Layton City Police, a 35-year-old man was in a fight with a another male in the area of 385 North Main Street. During the fight, the victim was shot in the leg.
The suspect is identified as 36-year-old Aaron Gaitan. He was booked into the Davis County Jail for investigation of a variety of charges. He is accused of the following: aggravated robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for a restricted person, discharge of a firearm near a dwelling, criminal mischief, and domestic violence in the presence of a child.
The victim of the shooting in Layton, who has not been identified, was released from the hospital Wednesday morning.
