SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Transportation will launch an environmental study on I-15 between Salt Lake City and Farmington.

From April 11 to May 13, UDOT will ask those who live or travel along I-15 between 400 South in Salt Lake City and the US-89 interchange in Farmington to identify their transportation needs.

The study will help the agency determine future construction plans as they relate to population growth as well as future transportation needs of the area.

“UDOT’s mission is to improve quality of life through transportation,” said Tiffany Pocock, I-15 Project Manager, in a press release.

“We will be looking at many potential solutions to help our transportation system in this area work better for everyone, including drivers, transit riders, bicyclists and pedestrians.”

UDOT’s hope for future I-15 construction

UDOT’s initial assessments have identified aging infrastructure in need of replacement on I-15, more congestion due to population growth, and limited connectivity across I-15.

The agency hopes to add or improve lanes and interchanges, enhance access to transit and create better accommodations for all travelers, including bicyclists and pedestrians.

Members of the public can submit comments through the study’s website. Once on the website, comments can be sent through an interactive map or a comment form. An email or mailing address is available as well.

Along with accepting public comments online, UDOT will hold local meetings to both share the study with the public and get feedback. These meetings can be found on the study’s website. The team conducting the survey can be contacted at 385-220-5797 or i15eis@utah.gov.
