SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Police Department issued an Amber Alert Wednesday in an effort to locate three missing, at-risk children, who are believed already to be in South Dakota.

Based on their investigation, police believe the children, ages 8, 6 and 3 months, are already out of state. As such, Utah residents did not receive the traditional Wireless Emergency Alert on their mobile devices.

Missing children in South Dakota

As a result of the children being last seen in Utah, the Salt Lake City Police coordinated with the Utah Department of Public Safety to issue the Amber Alert in South Dakota.

According to police, this is being investigated as a custodial abduction. Police believe all three children are with their mother, 27-year-old Conchita Leona Peralta and 33-year-old Fermin Figueroa-Luque. 

Through their investigation, police say it is likely the children are in or around North Eagle Butte, South Dakota. 

Earlier Wednesday, Salt Lake City Police were notified by the Utah Division of Child and Family Services (DCFS) about a recent court ruling that ordered Peralta to turn her children over to DCFS.

According to police, Peralta did not surrender her children. Both Salt Lake City Police and DCFS attempted to contact Peralta, but were unsuccessful.

Police say that Peralta is likely driving black Dodge Challenger sedan with Utah license plates G919NX. Anyone who sees Peralta or the children are asked to call 911.
