Man arrested after assault and robbery attempt

SALT LAKE CITY – The victim, an adult woman, and her friend were waiting for an airport shuttle when they were approached by the suspect. The suspect came from inside the shuttle stop and appeared to be in a fit of rage.

The suspect struck the victim multiple times and attempted to steal her black shoulder bag. He eventually fled without possession of the bag.

A surveillance camera captured the entire incident. Police say the video matched the victim’s and witness’s account of the attack.

Officers located the suspect about a mile from the original crime scene. He admitted to attacking the victim and attempting to steal the shoulder bag. Neither the victim nor arrestee’s identity has been released at this time.
