Springville shooting: Suspect identified, teenage girl on life support, police say

SPRINGVILLE, Utah — Police in Springville say they don’t expect a teenage girl who was shot Wednesday afternoon to survive.
Police say Lily Conroy, 17, was found in a car with a gunshot wound. She was transported by a medical helicopter to a nearby hospital.
Police say that Conroy is currently on life support to preserve her organs. Conroy is a resident of Springville and a student at Springville High School.
A statement from Springville Police reads:
“The family wishes to carry on their daughter’s legacy to help someone in need. The family would like Lily to live on by donating her organs to a local family. If there is a family in the local area who is in need of organ donation, contact the Springville Police Department.”
Police identified the man who died as 19-year-old Masao Kaanga, also of Springville.
Earlier Wednesday, Springville Police started looking for the two young people after receiving information about a possible situation between them. As police searched the area, they said Kaanga reached out to his mother, saying he would be at Hobble Creek Park.
A short time later, police arrived at the park and discovered the teenage girl, shot, and Kaanga dead.
