MURRAY, Utah — The Murray Police Department is warning the public of a possible scam going on in the area.

Murray Police say they have received multiple reports of people receiving a phone call from someone saying they are a Murray Police Officer.

The caller goes on to say they are contacting the individual because they have a warrant out for their arrest. As a result, the individual needs to pay the bail amount, or authorities will come and arrest them.

Murray Police wants the community to know they are not making these phone calls.

Police say if you are contacted by someone notifying you of an arrest warrant or trying to get money from you, you should hang up. You should then call the non-emergency dispatch number at 801-840-4000 to document the incident.
