SALT LAKE CITY — This weekend The Natural History Museum of Utah is hosting its ninth annual Indigenous Art Market.

On Oct. 9-10 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. music, dance performances and hands-on activities will take place.

The market is also featuring 39 Native American artists representing 13 Tribal Nations and five states, according to a news release from the museum.

Attendees will have a chance to see paintings, pottery, jewelry, textiles, photography, leatherwork, and much more at the market.

Additionally, short informational discussions on Navajo culture, native hoop dance, and basking weaving will be held.

Hopi Artist-in-Residence Jessica Wiarda will demonstrate Navajo basket weaving as well. 

The museum’s webpage says through the artist’s artwork traditions can be learned. The webpage also notes that proceeds from sales go directly to artists.
