SALT LAKE CITY — The National Weather Service warned Utahns of an upcoming storm that could bring high winds and cold conditions to the state.
🌨️(2/3): Our second impact is *snow*. A cold front will arrive tomorrow afternoon. Precipitation will last from Saturday P.M.-Monday A.M. Most of the snow should stay in the mountains. But, temperatures are expected to drop below 30 degrees on Monday morning. So, snow in the valley is definitely a possibility.
Strong winds are what can be expected first. The National Weather Service Twitter page says that winds upwards of 50 miles per hour may be present in southwest and south-central Utah on Saturday. The NWS advises people in affected areas to secure outdoor objects and prepare for the possibility of a power outage.
Wind Advisories are now in effect for a large portion of northwest Utah.
NEW: Wind Advisories are now in effect until 6pm for a large portion of northwest Utah, including the Wasatch Front. Many locations in this area are seeing wind gusts in excess of 40 mph ahead of the front. Winds will tend to decrease this afternoon as the front passes. #utwx pic.twitter.com/ihQKjPBcqC
