SALT LAKE CITY — Wednesday, Nov.2 is National Stress Awareness Day and a new study is calling Utah one of the most stressed states in the nation.

An analysis of tweets done by virtual healthcare company PlushCare said Utah is second on the list of most stressed-out states. And we’re only beaten by Hawaii.

PlushCare said it analyzed 4 million geo-tagged tweets to find how stressed the states are, and what’s causing it.

In Utah, 44.49% of tweets tagged within the state were found to be about stress.

PlushCare said the top stressors for Utahns are relationships, social media and the news.

But what about the nation’s most stressed state, Hawaii?

PlushCare found that out of 17,000 tweets about Hawaii, 45.31% of them were about stress in Hawaii.

While it’s hard to imagine there’s that much stress in paradise, PlushCare said many of the tweets were centered on the tension between locals and the tourism industry.

Overall, Americans are just stressed in general. The American Psychological Association reported over 40% of Americans feel increased stress compared to their lives before COVID-19.
