SALT LAKE CITY — A group of students at the Jean Massieu School of the Deaf is making blankets for pet dogs and cats at the Humane Society of Utah.
Kids in the school’s Kindness Club are making the pet blankets. The club is an after-school program consisting of fifteen students in grades 3 through 5. The school created the club to give back to its community.
The kids have been working hard for weeks making the pet blankets. During that time they learned how to measure, cut and tie the material for the blankets. Teambuilding was also a feature of the project.
The students will deliver the blankets in person to the Humane Society of Utah along with food and toys for the resident cats and dogs.
According to its website, the Jean Massieu School of the Deaf was founded in 1999 as a charter school. Their goal is to support students in Salt Lake City who wish to have bilingual education in American Sign Language and English.
