Salt Lake City K-9 teams to help protect Super Bowl LVII

SALT LAKE CITY — Two K-9 teams with Salt Lake City Police Department are helping protect this year’s Super Bowl.
The teams are a part of the SLCPD’s Airport Division K-9 Squad.
Officer Thad Hansen, his partner K-9 Pongo, and Officer John Lynn and his K-9 partner Lux make up the selected teams.
According to SLCPD on Instagram, an elite group of explosive detection K-9 assets are selected from across the county for the job.
This is the first time a K-9 team from the SLCPD has been selected to work the Super Bowl.
In preparation for tomorrow, Officer Lynn and Hansen will help ensure all buildings are safe.
On the SLCPD webpage, it said that K-9s take turns working in shifts. That way the K-9s get to rest, play with toys and get well-deserved treats.
