SALT LAKE CITY — The Salt Lake City Fire Emergency Department has evacuated roughly 35 homes Wednesday evening due to flooding in the area of 1700 South between 1500 East and 1700 East.
An evacuation shelter has been set up by the Red Cross of Utah at meeting house for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, located at 2215 E. Roosevelt Ave.
#RedCross staff and volunteers are opening an evacuation center at @Ch_JesusChrist, 2215 E Roosevelt Ave. @slcfire is evacuating about 35 homes in the area of 1700 S between 1500 E and 1700 E. due to flooding. The center is open or call 1-800-RED CROSS for assistance.

As such, the Salt Lake City Fire Emergency Department is seeking volunteers to help fill sandbags in the area of 1700 South and 1700 East to help with flooding. Volunteers are asked to bring shovels and gloves.

Flood warning
Earlier Wednesday evening, the National Weather Service issued a Flood Warning for Emigration Creek through Thursday morning. The NWS to avoid any flooded areas as the water is cold and moving fast.
