SPANISH FORK, Utah — A fire in Spanish Fork Saturday morning destroyed a Chevron Gas Station.
A person made a call reporting the fire after they came out of Spanish Fork Canyon and noticed the smoke billowing from the gas station. Spanish Fork Fire & EMS arrived at the fire on East Canyon Road around 12 Saturday morning. When they arrived, crews reported heavy smoke and fire coming from the southwest corner of the building.
Spanish Fork Fire said that crews were able to keep the fire in the southwest portion of the building. However, the fire had already breached through the roof.
SFF said that they were assisted by “Spanish Fork Police Dept., Mapleton Fire & Rescue, Salem Fire Dept, Woodland Hills Fire Dept., Payson Fire & Rescue, Genola Fire Dept., Central Utah 911, Dominion Energy, and Spanish Fork Public Works.” And that “three chief officers, one investigator, 36 firefighters, five engines, two ladders, two squads, one air and light trailer, and one ambulance responded overall to the incident.”
Crews controlled the fire within an hour and a half.
Investigators are looking into how the fire started, but SFF said the cause does not appear to be suspicious.
SFF estimated damages to the business at one million dollars.
