PARK CITY, Utah — Though Utah is in the heat of summer, Park City Mountain Resort has announced its opening day for the 2023-24 ski season.
The resort plans to start its season on Friday, Nov.17, 2023. This winter will mark the resort’s 60th season in operation.
“The resort will be celebrating its 60th anniversary this season with signature events, concerts, and art installations,” said a press release from Vail Resorts, the resort’s parent company.
In addition to the anniversary celebrations, skiers and snowboarders will have access to 360-degree views from newly installed cabins on Red Pine Gondola. The gondola is located on the Canyons Village side of the resort.
Record-breaking year for Park City Mountain Resort
The resort opening follows a record-breaking year of snowpack. Spring 2023, alone, saw a record-breaking 30 inches, according to the Utah Department of Natural Resources.
According to Park City’s terrain conditions website, the resort had a total of 636 inches of snow last season. That amount allowed some ski runs to stay open until May 1.
Solitude Mountain Resort, in Big Cottonwood Canyon, will also open on Nov. 17, according to the resort’s official X, formerly known as Twitter, profile.
Utah’s other resorts have not yet announced opening dates for the 2023-24 ski season.
