SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Department of Transportation is encouraging motorists to plan ahead for heavy delays this weekend on I-215 west belt and I-15 in Farmington.
UDOT says the delays are a result of lane restrictions due to construction.
UDOT says the I-215 west belt will be limited to one lane in each direction between California Avenue and I-80 on Friday and Saturday from 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. Additionally, the freeway will be reduced to two lanes in both directions at 10 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
The freeway will then be limited back to one lane in each direction through Monday at 4 a.m. UDOT says motorists should plan for delays of at least 15 minutes.
Those individuals needing to get to Salt Lake City International Airport should use I-15 and I-80 as alternates.
Heavy delays on I-15
Southbound I-15 from Park Lane in Farmington to Parrish Lane in Centerville will be closed to all traffic for a portion of this weekend. The closure will begin on Friday at 11 p.m. and will run through Saturday at 10 a.m. The freeway will then close again on Saturday at 11 p.m. and will reopen on Sunday at 11 a.m.
Traffic will be directed onto Legacy Parkway during the closures.
The I-15 closure is necessary as construction crews will be placing pavement for the new lanes that will connect the new Davis Highway to southbound I-15.
