Taylor Swift: how the pop star boosted NFL jersey sales by 400%

SALT LAKE CITY — Taylor Swift fans are taking an extra look at the NFL this weekend. This is, of course, coming off the heels of Taylor Swift’s appearance at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City.

The next day, hundreds, if not thousands, of husbands, uncles, friends, and brothers received a similar text, “Thoughts on Travis Kelce?”

Taylor Swift stopped by to see her friend Travis play football. She shared a suite with Kelce’s mom, Donna. Kelce and his team, the Kansas City Cheifs, beat the Chicago Bears 41-10.

 

The NFL (Taylor’s Version)

Swift’s Eras Tour is on track to be the highest-grossing tour of all time. Cities have welcomed the tour, namely because they’ve been found to benefit from the tour economically. In each city of the tour, thousands of fans flew in and needed hotel rooms, and food and Ubers, etc. 

When Swift’s Eras tour visited Seattle, the crowd of “Swifties” at Lumen Field shook the stadium to the point that nearby seismograph machines registered the equivalent of an earthquake measuring a magnitude 2.3.

“The Taylor Effect” seems to have affected Travis Kelce’s personal brand, too. He gained over 300,000 followers on social media, and his jersey sales “saw a nearly 400% spike in sales throughout the Fanatics network of sites, including NFLShop.com,” a spokesperson told The Associated Press.

Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift were also seen leaving the stadium together.

Kelce did not comment after the game, and there isn’t any official statement about their relationship. However, everyone is talking about it. The Cheifs’ head coach, Andy Reid, even mentioned that he was the one that had set them up.
