SALT LAKE CITY — A Utah-made horror film titled “He Never Left” is set to premiere at London’s world-renowned horror film festival, FrightFest Film Festival.
Witching Season Films, the Utah-based production company behind the film, said “He Never Left” will premiere during the festival’s second block. According to a press release from the company, this is its second Utah-made feature.
A synopsis provided by the production company said “He Never Left” follows a character named Gabriel, who is a fugitive on the run from the U.S. Marshals. He and his girlfriend take refuge in an old motel and inadvertently become the targets of the ‘Pale Face killer.’
James Morris wrote and directed the film. He also acted in it, according to IMDb. Colin Cunningham plays Gabriel.
The film was “inspired by horror classics like Alfred Hitchcock’s Rear Window, Slasher films like The Strangers, and fueled by real experiences from Morris’ career as a police officer,” according to the press release.
Witching Season Films said the Filmquest Film Festival will also screen the project at a Provo film festival, called Filmquest. According to Filmquest’s website, the screening will take place at 8:15 p.m. on October 26, 2023.
