Live at 11:35 a.m. on Dave & Dujanovic. Barbieland causes drama in Daybreak.

SOUTH JORDAN, Utah — A group of neighbors in Daybreak have come together to turn their houses into “Barbieland” for Halloween. Eighteen homes have joined the fun, decorating the street as different Barbie locations.

Liz Gallegos is the one behind the idea. She said she had the idea after she saw Greta Gerwig’s “Barbie” in theaters with some of her neighbors.

“We walked out, and I said ‘There’s only one Halloween costume this year and it’s Barbie.’ [Then] Our neighbor’s daughter said ‘we should make our houses Barbie [themed] too.”

Gallegos said some of her neighbors knew right away how they would decorate.

“I really wanted [mine] to be all pink and represent the movie as much as possible. Natalie [a neighbor], knew she wanted [hers to] be Disco Barbie [themed].”

Disco Barbie’s home is complete with a “Come on Barbie, let’s go party” DJ station. Another location in “Barbieland” is Ken’s Mojo Dojo Casa House. A third is the Barbie Graveyard, which features a headstone for Ruth Handler, who was the creator of the iconic doll.

“Barbieland” is featured in a now-viral TikTok, which was posted by Gallegos. It has amassed over two million views.

Visitors are welcome, however, Gallegos said they are being asked to park their cars and take a walking tour. All of the displays are on a common walkway, so visitors have been asked not to drive through it.
