OGDEN, Utah — One man is dead and seven officers are on administrative leave following an officer-involved shooting in Ogden early Sunday morning.

Police said at around 1:19 a.m. seven officers responded to a “weapons disturbance,” in the 200 North block of Eccles Avenue.

In a post to the Ogden Police Utah Facebook account, police said a call asked for help dealing with an intoxicated man. The man was reportedly armed with a gun.

According to the post, the intoxicated man said he would “take himself out” if officers responded.

Upon the officer’s arrival at the scene, the man repeatedly pointed the gun at them. Police say they gave multiple warnings to drop the weapon, but the man did not listen.

Following this, officers fired their weapons shooting and killing the man.

According to the post, Ogden City Police have responded to this residence before under similar circumstances.

The seven officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave.

The Weber County Attorney Officer Involved Critical Incident Team is investigating the incident.

Police said they’d share more details on the case later this week.

If you or anyone you know is struggling with thoughts of suicide, call 988, the National Suicide Prevention Hotline or the Huntsman Mental Health Institute (1-801-583-2500).
