Deadly shooting leads to SWAT standoff at Springville apartment, 3 in custody

SPRINGVILLE, Utah — Three people are in custody after a SWAT standoff at a Springville apartment complex Saturday morning.
Springville police said they were called to an apartment at 216 S. 100 W. just before 3 a.m. on reports of gunshots. They arrived to find one man had been shot. The man was taken to the hospital where he later died from his injuries.
There was a long standoff at the apartment complex, with officers from the Provo, Mapleton and Payson departments assisting Springville police, as well as the Utah County Sheriff’s Department.
The Utah County Metro SWAT team was also called in, and they were able to take three people into custody.
Springville police said the investigation is ongoing, but they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public or any additional suspects. They said they are investigating the shooting as a homicide.
