SALT LAKE CITY — On Tuesday afternoon, officials announced that Salt Lake County is in a Code Blue status.
This means that the National Weather Service predicts outdoor temperatures will drop to 15 degrees Fahrenheit, or below (including wind chill factor.)
Under a new Utah law, resource centers and service providers that accommodate people experiencing homelessness must increase their capacity by up to 35%.
According to the Salt Lake City Council, the following resource centers will be available:
- West Valley Overflow, 3381 S. Redwood Road, West Valley City, accepts men and couples;
- Valley Behavioral Health, 1020 S. Main Street, Salt Lake City, accepts everyone, including families.
The availability of resources, and opportunities to volunteer, can be found at this Salt Lake City Council webpage.
