BLUFFDALE, Utah — One man is dead after a medical call turned into an Officer Involved Critical Incident on Wednesday morning in Bluffdale.
Around 8:30 a.m. the Saratoga Springs Fire Department responded to a medical call for a 44-year-old man. Saratoga Springs Police Chief Andrew Burton told KSL NewsRadio that, almost immediately after the fire department arrived, police were on the scene.
They found the man locked inside a room and upon making contact, police said the man presented a firearm. Then, paramedics said shots were fired and the patient was down, said Burton.
The man was transported to the Riverton Hospital Emergency Department, where he died.
The Officer Involved Critical Incident Protocol has been invoked and the OICI Saratoga Springs Team is investigating.
It is unknown at this time if the man fired his weapon or not.
