DEI bill passed through Utah House, on its way to Gov. Cox’s desk

SALT LAKE CITY — A bill that would remove diversity, equity, and inclusion, or DEI, programs, passed through the Utah House and Senate and is now headed to Governor Spencer Cox’s desk.

H.B. 261, would do away with DEI programs from government institutions, such as universities.

If the governor does not sign or does not choose to veto the bill, it will automatically become Utah state law and take effect on July 1, 2024.

Rep. Katy Hall is sponsoring the bill. According to KSL TV, Hall ensures it won’t get rid of cultural centers or scholarships.
