PROVO, Utah — The Provo Food Bank has less than a month’s supply left. It is asking for the public’s help through donations.

Jessica Miller, spokesperson for the food bank, said they’ve seen a 65% increase in the number of people who need their services from last year. The increase has resulted in a depletion of their supplies.

The food bank tries to keep a reserve of a million pounds of food, however, the reserve is currently at less than 200,000 pounds.

“Last month we distributed 400,000 pounds of food,” she said.

Miller said at this rate, they’ll run out of food in less than a month.

The food bank is in dire need of canned meat, fruits, and vegetables. Furthermore, Provo Food Bank also needs non-food items.

“Diapers, toothpaste, toilet paper, those toiletries that are pretty essential,” said Miller.

According to the Community Action Services and Food Bank webpage, another way you can help is by hosting a food drive. The webpage says that every dollar donated helps the food bank feed a family of four for one day.

We want to hear from you.
