The company said the development will not only transform the area but also house a MLB stadium if Salt Lake gets one.
The company said in a statement it will invest $3.5 billion into what will be known as ‘The Power District.‘
It will be a 100-acre plot adjacent to the Utah State Fair Park.
It runs along North Temple between Redwood Road and the Jordan River.
The company said in a press release it will feature, “abundant green space and trails, a beautified Jordan River walk, innovative residential options, majestic views, a focus on local dining and retail.”
The plot would include a Major League Baseball stadium, but that’s dependent on if Salt Lake City gets a team.
Regardless if that happens or not, the company told KSL NewsRadio in an email that the rest of the project will move forward, “with or without baseball.”
In a video produced by the company, Utah Senate Minority Leader Luz Escamilla said she thinks this will build on the west side’s culture.
“They’re open and more than excited to welcome that level of infrastructure so they can continue to grow and have this generational investment,” Escamilla said.
The development will also be walkable, bikeable and connected to public transit.
The company expects work on the project to begin in late 2024. It’ll start with the construction of a new headquarters for Rocky Mountain Power.
