Medicaid members in Utah affected by nationwide outage

SALT LAKE CITY — A nationwide outage is impacting Medicaid customers’ ability to get their prescriptions at pharmacies in Utah.
According to a statement from the Utah Department of Health and Human Services, the outage began on Wednesday with a cyber attack on a vendor, Change Healthcare.
Utah Medicaid continues to respond to pharmacy vendor network outage.
17,000 Medicaid members who are due for critical medication refills will be contacted by staff this weekend.

Change Healthcare authorizes prescription payments through Medicaid.
Currently, patients are having to pay full price for their meds, if they can afford to pay.
Staff with the Utah DHHS, Department of Workforce Services and Medicaid worked over the weekend to call 17,000 customers who are high-risk without their meds.
Utah Medicaid also asked pharmacies to provide Medicaid patients a 30-day prescription at no cost to get people through the network outage.
