Suspect dead after a police-involved shooting in Riverton

SALT LAKE COUNTY, Utah — Riverton Police confirmed there was an officer-involved shooting that ended in a death in Riverton Friday morning.
The shooting was reported to take place near 2105 West and 13800 South.
Police said they were loosely following the suspect because they were believed to be a part of an alleged vehicle burglary that occurred in Sandy.
Police said while they were following the suspect, they “presented a weapon and a threat.”
According to police, the suspect died at the scene, and it is unclear how many shots were fired at this time.
Herriman, Riverton and Sandy police officers were reported to be involved in the shooting.
