PARK CITY, Utah — Park City Library will host a free showing of “Superpower Dogs” on March 27. The film highlights the work of emergency rescue dogs.
The Park City Library has partnered with Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter and Wasatch Backcountry Rescue to present the film. After the film, guests will have the opportunity to meet Wasatch Backcountry Rescue avalanche dogs.
According to the film’s website, it features dogs that work as emergency responders in several locations. One of the dogs is Henry, an avalanche rescue dog working in Whistler, Canada.
“We’re excited to be partnering with WBR and the Park City Library to highlight the important services Wasatch Backcountry Rescue provides to help us stay safe in the snow and outdoors,” said Hunter Klingensmith, the director of visitor experience and exhibits at Swaner Preserve & EcoCenter.
“Superpower Dogs”
“Superpower Dogs” is a film that showcases the life-saving work of rescue dogs.
According to the film’s website, it was made between 2016 and 2018. It premiered in 2019.
Additionally, the website said filmmakers used a “doggie-vision” camera to capture some of the film’s moments. The specially-made camera captured a 250-degree field of view, matching a dog’s field of peripheral vision.
In contrast, humans only have a 180-degree field of peripheral vision.
According to the website, the filmmakers made “nearly every decision to … highlight the abilities of the dogs and the human‐dog bond.”
