SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s weekend storm will drop temperatures to bring valley rain and a ton of snow to the mountains.
Friday morning, Utah had some rain showers move through the northern half of the Wasatch Front. KSL Meteorologist Devan Masciulli said the rain is heading south and the rest of Friday will be mostly sunny with below-average temperatures.
“So we are in the upper 50s this afternoon,” said Masciulli. “We’ll see into the upper 70s on Saturday with some strong winds throughout the day.”
When will the weekend storm arrive?
Masciulli said the cold front will “bring temperatures crashing down on Sunday afternoon.”
According to Masciulli, the low will be in the 50s, and below-average temperatures will stay through the beginning of next week.
On Saturday, Utah will be treated with a dry, warm day with temperatures reaching the high 70s. However, a storm moves in on Sunday morning and will linger into Monday and Tuesday.
According to Masciulli, by Monday morning Salt Lake could surpass an inch of rain. Additionally, the mountains could see up to a foot of snow in the Cottonwoods with the chance to push two feet.
“The benches come Monday morning, they could even see a trace to about an inch of snow,” said Masciulli.
By the time the storm sets in on Sunday, Utah might not hit 60 degrees again until Thursday.
