Sugar House Park reopen after gas leak shuts it down Thursday afternoon

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — Authorities responded to a gas leak in Sugar House Thursday afternoon. The gas leak caused evacuations, a road closure and the closure of Sugar House Park.
The Salt Lake City Fire Department responded to the gas leak around 1600 East and 2100 South at around 2 p.m.
SECOND working incident –

Authorities shut down 2100 South from 1300 East to 1800 East for a period of time. 2100 S. is now open between 1500 E. and 1700 E., according to the Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities X account.
“We have evacuated the residents near the gas leak and expect the evacuation order to last approximately (one hour),” the Salt Lake Fire Department shared to its X account.
SLC Fire Department said it will be giving updates through its X account.
Initially, the SLC Fire Department stated it was safe for people to remain in Sugar House Park, however, Salt Lake County Parks & Recreation closed the park for a period of time.
