Suspect in custody after fatal shooting in SLC

SALT LAKE CITY — Salt Lake City police say that 59-year-old, David Chase is in police custody after a fatal shooting at 3075 West Decade Drive on Tuesday afternoon.
Chase is suspected of fatally shooting 42-year-old Thomas Priest in the Glendale neighborhood of Salt Lake City. Police said the shooting happened in an industrial area of the neighborhood
According to a press release, the Salt Lake City Police Department got a call from a man, later identified as Chase himself, at 4:09 p.m. Tuesday saying he had shot Priest.
Officers and paramedics arrived to find Priest on the ground “with a life-threatening gunshot wound.” He died on the scene.
SLCPD believes an argument broke out, leading to Chase shooting Priest. Court records state that Priest did not have a weapon at the time.
A police investigation is ongoing.
