Second round voting opens for Utah’s NHL team nickname

SALT LAKE CITY – Smith Entertainment Group opened another round of voting for fans to help choose the nickname for Utah’s NHL franchise.
Second phase of voting opens for Utah’s NHL team nickname
The second round of fan voting opened on Thursday, June 6.
After the initial survey included 20 nicknames for fans to choose from, the second phase of voting presents six options.
These are the nicknames available for fans to vote on:
- Utah Venom
- Utah Blizzards
- Utah Mammoth
- Utah Yeti
- Utah Hockey Club (Utah HC)
- Utah Outlaws
One nickname choice is allowed in the second round of the survey. The initial survey allowed for fans to choose up to four of their favorite names.

In late May, team owner Ryan Smith told Pat McAfee that the naming process was down to four finalists. Smith mentioned Yeti and Mammoth as two of the finalists.
On June 1, the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office received multiple trademark applications with logos for a “Utah Hockey Club.”
