Semitruck passenger died in crash on Saturday morning

SALT LAKE CITY — A passenger in a semitruck has died after the semi crashed in Lamb’s Canyon on Saturday morning.
A news release published by the Department of Public Safety said the driver was towing a 53-foot trailer when he lost control of the semi around 4:30 a.m. The semi then hit into a right concrete barrier when it crashed.
According to the news release, the semitruck detached from the trailer, rolled down the north embankment and blocked all of the lanes.
DPS stated that a passenger in the semitruck was ejected from the semi and died at the scene. The driver was brought to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Westbound lanes on I-80 at Lamb’s Canyon were closed through the day on Saturday morning.
