PROVO, Utah — Provo is getting ready to cut the ribbon on a new sports park next month. The city said it will be the largest sports complex in the state and the second largest in the nation.
The name of the new park is EPIC.
Provo Economic Development Director Keith Morey said it will have 21 soccer fields and 45 pickleball courts. That’s not all. There will also be competitions for rugby, lacrosse, and ultimate frisbee.
EPIC Sports Park is located right across the street from the Provo airport, a plus for people who have to travel for national tournaments.
“The ability for people from around the country to come in and out of Provo very quickly, have immediate access to this incredible sports complex, and then be able to recreate in Provo and in Provo Canyon after that while they’re here in our community is just an incredible opportunity,” Morey said.
Morey expects the park to pump $30 to 40 million into the local economy every year.
Right after the park opens, there will be a soccer tournament with 130 teams. Those teams have already reserved 1,000 hotel rooms for the length of the tournament.
The grand opening of EPIC Sports Park is Sept. 21, 2024.
