MOAB, Utah — The Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services is searching for artists to design pieces for its new Moab liquor store.
According to the project’s Call for Entry page, applicants must submit at least two images as work samples. The budget for the project is $46,484.
The committee is looking for mural work to display inside the store. DABS expects the new store to open in 2026 and replace the existing Moab Liquor Store.
The request for qualifications encouraged artists to draw inspiration from Moab and Grand County, building renderings and DABS services.
While they are looking specifically for a mural, the press release added that the committee will consider “other media.”
“Proposed artworks should be reflective of the unique community found in Moab, celebrating its rich history and incredible natural beauty,” read the request for qualifications.
The Department of Alcoholic Beverage Services has joined forces with the Utah Arts & Museums Public Art Program and the Division of Facilities Construction & Management to commission the piece.
Applicants who live in Grand County or San Juan County will be prioritized, per the press release. However, any artist or team based in Utah is eligible to apply.
Applications are due on Oct. 18, 2024. The committee will notify finalists on Nov. 4. Then, they will interview the selected applicants to make a final selection.
