MURRAY, Utah – The teen program director of the Murray Boys and Girls Club was arrested Monday evening. He has been accused of sexually abusing a child.
According to a probable cause statement filed in the 3rd District Court of Salt Lake, Patrick Baker sent explicit text messages to someone who he believed to be a five-year-old boy.
During the exchange, explicit comments were made by Baker to the victim. He asked him to engage in sexual acts.
After the messages were sent, Baker, a 25-year-old man, agreed to meet at a location that was not named in the document.
It is unclear if he was actually messaging a minor or an undercover agent.
When Baker arrived, police arrested him.
According to the probable cause statement, Baker admitted to “having child sex abuse material on his phone.” After, an officer also confirmed the content on his phone.
He has been accused of three offenses; sodomy on a child, enticing a minor, and sexual exploitation of a minor. Enticing a minor is a felony.
The police statement said, “[He] has access to children and is a risk to children in the public.” The officer who wrote the statement recommended he be held without bail.
